We recently finished two projects with White Earth Nation in Minnesota. The first was a small wind turbine installation for Ojibwa Building Supplies, a Tribally-owned business in Waubun that is now proudly powered by small wind energy! The second was a small wind turbine installation that is being used to power the White Earth Community Service Centre in Naytahwaush.

The 3120-series Endurance Wind Power small wind turbines are the first installations in Indian Country. Although there are hundreds of installations of the 3120-series wind turbines in North America and the UK, these are the first installed under agreements of Tribal communities working together.

It was a wonderful journey and an honor working with the White Earth community to lessen their dependance on fossil fuels and add to their green power initiatives by helping facilitate these projects. We love Nation-to-Nation business! Take a look through our video and photo documentation of each project to see how things came together.

  1. [...] While wind turbines are simple in concept, it takes more than just a fan blade and a steel pipe to build one. Starting at the top, the propellors are usually made from either simple plastics (for home or small-scale wind turbines) or fiberglass and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (for full-size turbines). The bases for the super-tall wind turbines are made from steel-reinforced concrete to withstand the amount of energy those moving blades generate in high winds. The various generators, motors, and electricity converting/delivering systems are built inside the sheath behind the propellers and the base attaching the wind turbine to the ground. i am a firm believer of renewable energy because here, in the philippines, the cost of electricity if 2nd highest in asia. and there’s nothing we can do about it. in paricular i’m attracted to wind power and i’m apprehensive of the costs involved.
